Prisoners’ Action
Group Benefit - Blind Hall,
Woolloongabba
15
July 1983
The Black Assassins, Marko Halstead, Pork, The Pits, This Five Minutes.
The Blind Hall in Woolloongabba had been a venue for Ballroom dancing
in Brisbane in the ‘40s and ‘50s. In the late ‘70s/early ‘80s it was a
good venue for punk and alternative bands. At the time the Queensland
Government’s treatment of people in prisons was worse than
appalling. At this benefit for the PAG, the Black
Assassins started playing out of sight behind a prison wall built
across the front of the stage out of cardboard boxes and knocked down
into the audience with gusto during the show. The anguished rendition
of AC/DC's Jail Break moved
the audience to tears. See Toxico's
